How much confidence can we place in brand names today? In a bygone era where a person's name was their bond, we placed great confidence in brand names when we were making purchases. Today there is more and more evidence that the top brands are being purchased by unscrupulous investment bankers that market products that don't necessarily live up to our expectations. This unfortunate practice has invaded every area of our lives, including mattress brands. It's about profits and big business.
Today's Sealy isn't manufactured by the same people who built the brand into the trusted name of yesterday. Today's Simmon's has evolved through a maze of owners over the past 30 years. The same is true of Serta, Spring Air, and many others. The name remains, but the companies and their products have moved in totally different directions.
As a retailer of such products, we spend diligent time searching out the mattress markets to try to sort through all the hype and find our customers the very best products for their money in today's evolving marketplace. It's getting more and more difficult, but we find it to be very rewarding when our customers keep coming back and trusting us with their sleep needs. The Bible says, "A good name is to be treasured more than great wealth." Somethings just shouldn't be for sale.

Dust Mites in your bed
It is estimated that up to 25% of the weight of your mattress after ten years of use is from dust mites and their droppings. This is not only "yuck." It's bad for your health. Dust mite droppings, known as antigens, is the number one cause of asthma. Your bed becomes a wasteland of bio-toxins that you willingly hunker down in, night after night. Did you know that you were sleeping with the enemy?
The Better Sleep Council recommends that you replace your sleep system every five to seven years. Your mattress doesn't last forever, and it is one of the best investments you make. Did you know that a quality mattress can change the energy of your life and only cost you about thirty cents per night. That's less than four cents per hour of sleep. Is that too much to pay for a life enhancing product? I didn't think so. By the way, how old is the mattress you are sleeping on?

Mattresses don't make one bit of difference
More than a good pair of shoes, the mattress you sleep on greatly impacts the quality of your sleep and your life. To wake up feeling rejuvenated, you need deep restful sleep. Nothing impacts the quality of your sleep like the mattress you sleep on. If you have not found this to be true, you probably have not tried the right mattress yet.
It has always been confusing to shop for mattresses because there are so many and the sales people generally talk in terms that only lead to the confusion. The internet has opened too many opportunities to get educated that it has heightened the confusion.
The number one tip from the "professionals" is to find someone you can trust and then let them "simplify" the process. True, but who can you trust? Trust this, it's not that complex, really. Forget about coil counts, brands, densities, I.L.D.'s, and the like and simply get comfortably dressed and go ask a trustworthy looking dealer or two to help you find the right mattress for you. The ones that ask sensible questions about you and your needs and then sincerely listen to your answers are probably the best choice. Lay on a few beds they narrow down as best for you and then trust your instincts.
If that doesn't settle it for you, write me at roger@bedstore.com or visit my store bedstore.com and I will answer your questions, no charge!

Why is a good night's sleep so elusive?
Please understand that I don't claim to have all the answers for everybody's sleep problems. However, I do know that what we sleep on can greatly affect the way we sleep. Since the way we sleep greatly affects the way we feel and the energy levels in which we address life, we should pay attention to what we sleep on. When searching for a new mattress the number one complaint is, it's so confusing. The Better Sleep Council recommends we find a local mattress dealer we trust.
